Stilistisch passiert, was der Jazz an Latin, Funk, Rock, Pop und Folk zu absorbieren in der Lage ist.
Beide Instrumente übernehmen Melodie-, Akkord-, Percussion- und Bass-Funktion. So ist die Band immer vollzählig. Wechselnde Klangfarben entstehen auch durch Spieltechniken, die über Zupfen und Streichen hinausgehen:
choping, slaping, walking...
Das Ergebnis hat von Beobachtern schon das Prädikat "Nobler Kammerjazz" bekommen.

We admit: people keep asking us the question: „Jazz and cello - does that work?" Most times we are able to reassure: „Yes, it works". For first of all nearly everything works, and second this works particularly well. And Jazz and guitar works anyway - without anyone being surprised.
We as well can affirm that two people are enough, referring to the cello´s versatility - for noone is surprised about the guitar´s versatility anyway. Of course, the cello is able to sound schmaltzy and elegiac - how lucky! But it can also crunch and bow lovely and even so fast. And plucked? Walking and Funk basses, swinging and funky rhythm-cello-chords - no problem at all. With the changing timbres and functions being offered by the two instruments you always listen to a complete band - a little one, of course.
And what do we play? As is generally known Jazz means a lot, that´s why we play a lot. And we use what we find around Jazz. We mostly play pieces being composed by ourselves. But our program contains standards as well. Art can be so entertaining...

David Plate: born in 1971, grown up in Regensburg (Germany), studied Jazz guitar in Wuerzburg, Cologne and New York as well as Jazz composition and arrangement in Essen. Pricewinner of the competition „Jugend Jazzt Bayern", stipends by the cuture minestry of Bavaria and the New School N.Y. Bandleader and sideman with several bands and pro-jects, appearances with Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Guerzenich Orchestra Cologne a.o. CD, broadcast and video productions.
